Team member Niamh Burns

Editorial Assistant

Niamh is a writer, musician, citizen scientist, and Irish-language speaker from the traditional and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. Her work—previously centring around poetry and fiction—has been published internationally in book form, print magazines, and online publications. Niamh’s main passions are deep sea ecology and small, overlooked organisms both on land and in the water (reflected in her current book project Microcosmia: Lilliputian Flora and Fauna of Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecosystems). Outside of writing, Niamh splits her time volunteering and working in various science outreach roles, ranging from education and research to program planning and exhibit design. When not working or writing, she can likely be found in, on, or near the ocean.
